Wheatears Foraging

Wheatears Foraging

A ‘fall’ of Wheatears on Holkham Beach. The birds were feeding on tiny insects that were attracted to the withering samphire plants. Each bird would stand bolt upright looking out for the slightest movement before dashing after an insect. It was interesting to see how the Wheatears alternated between high speed runs and two-footed leaps and bounds – 2nd October 2001.

An original signed watercolour painted from life - from the forthcoming book 'Birds in Norfolk'

Framed size 34cm x 41cm - Painting size 19cm x 26cm
